Preliminary Regional Agenda

Thursday, March 1, 2018

  • 9:00 am – 4:30 pm Workshop in the Riata Room on “Top 25 Tips of Clock Repair” taught by Mike Dempsey. Presented the day before the Regional opening. Cost is $80. This event requires special registration! Click for Details. This class will showcase some of the best repair tips, ideas and shortcuts that Mike has put together over 30 years of clock repair. It will include how to make specialty parts, making fixtures and tooling for your lathe and bushing machines, plus how to make a simple gear cutter and repair simple parts. The class will have a power point discussion, and then a demonstration on how these things are made. Included will be drawings and other technical information on how to reproduce everything.   • 2:00 – 3:00 pm Unloading and setup for 4 plus table holders is from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. All other table holders will unload from 3:00 – 4:30 pm. Mart Room closes at 5:00 pm. Tables holders may pick up their packets at the unloading dock.
  • 3:00 – 5:00 pm all non-table holders may pick up their packets in the normal Registration area.
  • 6:00 – 8:00 pm is the Social Hour/Cash Bar/Silent Auction. You must have your badge to attend.

  • 3:00 pm Demo in the Mart on “Bluing” by Bruce Wooldridge
  • 5:00 pm Mart and Exhibit Close
  • 5:00 – 6:00 pm Social Hour/Cash Bar/Auction Preview in Ballroom A
  • 6:00 pm Banquet (Pre-registration only) in Ballroom A

This year’s Auction will be on Friday night, March 2nd.

Preview for the auction will be from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. The auction itself will start at 7:30 pm following the Banquet.

Our auctions have been very popular at previous Regionals, and we expect this one will be no exception. Jim Sargent, a licensed auctioneer, will handle the auction once again.

We anticipate having photos of clocks and other Horological items to be auctioned posted on the Chapter 124 website approximately one week prior to the auction.

Special for Kids

We will be having a children’s table with activities for the kiddos. There will be prizes for finding clocks in the Mart, as well as other things for them to do.

The fun begins at 10:00 am!

The Hampton Inn & Suites has notified us they will be renovating two of their floors while our Convention is taking place. The Holiday Inn Express will be taking up the slack for the Hampton.

Please note that some parts of the Lone Star Regional are open only to members of the NAWCC. The Exhibit and Educationals are open to the Public. If you want to join with an Introductory NAWCC Membership for four months (this is one time only) and attend the Mart, Demos in the Mart and the Friday night Auction, you may for a fee of $35. Registration will open at 7:30 am on Friday, March 2nd.
